Okay, Labor Day weekend picnics will be in full swing soon so you might be looking to grill some zing into your chicken.  This is a great barbecue sauce recipe that comes to me from an Amish woman in Oklahoma (where barbecue is big).  The instructions are a little spare, but basically you just mix everything up and baste it to the chicken and grill.  This is a photo of a big barbecued chicken leg I saw at Amish summer picnic, the recipe for the sauce is similar to what you see below. Enjoy!

Amish Barbecued Chicken
  • 4 cups catsup
  • dash Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 /2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 can store-bought or homemade tomato sauce
  1. Mix everything together well and apply to chicken and then grill!

  2. I decided to make BBQ Chicken on the spur of the moment today & I remembered seeing this recipe here. It was SO delicious & so simple to make. Better than any bottled BBQ sauce I’ve ever used! I served it with garlic mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob & tomato salad. All rave reviews! Thanks for posting this fantastic recipe.
