What did your cookie dough look like? Mine looks on the crumbly side

Hmmm, mine was elastic and smooth…

I did use Amish peanut butter. It was all natural and wasn’t a smooth peanut butter. I wasn’t too sure about them. I was afraid they would be dry, but it all worked out. The recipe is a keeper. ☺

This is the exact same recipe that my Mama always used and I am almost 70 years old! Yes, it is an excellent never fail peanut butter cookie recipe. I made these for my kiddos when they were at home and I still make them for my husband who absolutely loves anything with peanut butter in it. Thanks for publishing this recipe.

When you say shortening, do you mean like the Crisco blocks and did you use the butter flavor or the original? Thanks for the recipes, I look forward to them every day.

Original flavored shorting, the Crisco blocks work well!

I still make the old Amish p-nut butter cookie. I think it was from Lovina’s mother. Everyone likes it. It has a shortbread cookie texture, and turns out beautiful. I will try this one too though.
