Missing your favorite cream-filled yellow sponge cake? Â Well, Twinkies are making their way back into stores after disappearing earlier this year. Â In our local grocery stores TastyKakes began to take the place of Twinkies, but I think they are back. Â Twinkies aren't a favorite of mine, but I know some swear by them. And leave it to the Amish to find a homemade version. Â This recipe for "Homemade Twinkies" comes from the Amish settlement in Buchanan County, Iowa. Actually the Amish woman who's recipe it is calls them "Amish Twinkies" so I guess we will also. Yum! Â Word of warning: the instructions on this recipe are a bit sparse, so go slow. Â Sounds like you'll come up with a nice, sweet cakey-fillingy type confection but it probably won't look like an actual Twinkie, but it will be tasty!:)
