Pound cake is a confection that is popular in Amish kitchens because it is very easy and tasty. It's also a versatile cake. It can be eaten for breakfast with a cup of coffee or enjoyed for dessert with strawberries and a scoop of ice cream. So pound cake is valued for its versatility and ease to make. Doesn't this homemade version from one of our readers look wonderful? I'd much rather eat a homemade one than store-bought, although will admit that my Dad used to buy the Sara Lee kind and that kind was tasty. He'd keep it in the refrigerator so when you'd slice off a piece it'd be cold. Yum. I like cold cake!:)
