When I was in Flat Rock recently, Gloria's youngest sister, 10-year-old Keturah was eager to ride on the pony. Â While most of the time the ponies pull carts, occasionally the lightweight kids will ride upon a pony. Â Ponies are to Amish kids what tricycles are to n0n-Amish kids, a sort of safe way to learn and prepare for handling the much larger horses. Â The logs stacked in the background will head into Gloria's husband's furniture store and be made into exquisitely handcrafted pieces and beyond that is the lush Illinois countryside. Â Summer in southern Illinois is brutally hot, but it is also very pretty with a bright green lushness that permeates the land.
And that is our picture of the week!
