I do love looking at signs when visiting different Amish settlements. Â Signs point the way to Amish-owned home-based businesses. Â In more conservative communities, the signs might be hand-letters or very simple.
I often think astute Amish entrepreneurs in more conservative communities know that the little hand-lettered signs are the ones that the tourists find the most quaint so therefore they will use them even if they have the ability to make splashier signs. Â That's just my theory.
In the Rexford, Montana Amish settlement I remember signs had a more rustic or western flavor.
In Oakland, Maryland the signs were more colorful than what you see in most Amish settlements. Â So here is a tour of the Oakland, Maryland Amish settlement in signs. Enjoy!

Very nice shops in the area. I have been visiting the bakery since it was in the basement of the house. We used to vacation in the area and it was probably 30 years ago now that they used to offer a meal to a tour group from a local resort.

I liked the signs. Color is nice and the sign drawing is nice.
