Start Your Own Food Blog In Three Easy Steps
By Kevin Williams
I’ve had the Amish365.com blog for, sheesh, maybe 15 years now. In various incarnations. For me, the blog is a key part of my professional life. But blogs can also be fun. Food blogs are a great hobby. You can share recipes with family and friends and, who knows, you might really connect with a larger audience and turn your blog in something bigger. So from my school of hard knocks, there are the three key steps to starting a food blog…and they easy, you could be up and running in a half hour.
STEP ONE: Think of a name for your blog. It’s got to be creative. Bakeat350.com, pinchofsalt.com, foodcoma.com, falloffthebone.com or anything like that (I just pulled those out of the air, don’t know if any of those names are taken or not) …something fun and catchy. So many good names are already taken, but I’m convinced there are some great ones out there waiting. Just keep thinking. You want it to be fun and easy to remember.
STEP TWO: Go over to bluehost.com and start your site hosting. Also make sure your name is available by doing an easy, free search in Bluehost. 5.95 a month and they’ve got great customer service that will walk you through it all.
STEP THREE: Bake, cook, create, and share…photograph it all and start posting, post to Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and watch your followers pile up! You should watermark your photos with a free, easy online tool like Lunapic that way someone doesn’t use them unauthorized. As your followers add up, think about adding some easy ad script like Google Ads, then you’ll earn a little $$$ for your efforts! An added bonus, if you start a food blog, let me know, I’ll give you a traffic boost by featuring you here on Amish365.com!
