We have a delicious menu of trending stories this week on Amish365, some surprises and some old regulars making it into the top 10 post list of the week.
FRIED PIES/WHITESVILLE, TN: This post has consistently been trending over the past few weeks and I just never post the link in these round-ups because I’ve posted “fried pies” a lot over the years, but this post just keeps keeping on. Not sure if it is the fried pie part that keeps people coming back or the Whitesville, TN information. Either way, this post just keeps chugging along. Whitesville is a small town about an hour northeast of Memphis. There’s a Beachy Amish Mennonite community there and I had a chance to visit several years ago. One of the church members operates a “fried pie factory” which churns out of these homemade, handmade treats. Very efficient operation and delicious! Click here for a fried pie recipe and to learn more about Whitesville.
ONE KETTLE SOUP: This recipe is a stalwart on Amish365. Funny to read the comments, some people think this is an uninspired gruel, while others praise it as a hearty soup meal. That’s sort of the beauty of this soup is you can make it however you want: at more meat and you get a thick, protein-packed meal, cut back on the meat and you get a frothy, brothy soup. So click here to check out one of the oldest recipes on Amish365!
THE BISHOP’S CHOCOLATE PIE: Again, an old favorite trending on Amish365, it is a delicious pie, that is for sure….mmmm, I could eat a whole one of these in a sitting if I let myself. Click here for the recipe.
AMISH OATMEAL PIE (aka “mock pecan pie): Hesitate to keep posting old favorites today, but that seems to have been the trend this past week. I’ve said so much about this pie over the years that there’s little left to say here…click here for the recipe.
PIONEER PLACE – SMYRNA, MAINE: I was surprised to see this post creep into the top 10, maybe its because we are in summer tourism season and a lot of visitors to Smyrna start Googling “Pioneer Place” and they end up on Amish365. Read about one of my favorite Amish stores here!
HOMEMADE ROOT BEER: I guess I’m not surprised this recipe is trending, nothing like a cold, cold glass of root beer on a hot summer day. Thing is, at least here in the Midwest USA there haven’t been many hot summer days this year, so perhaps this recipe is trending in the West where it has been hot. Anyway, click here for a delicious homemade root beer recipe.
5 FAVORITE PLAIN-OWNED BUSINESSES: This post trended into the top 10 this week, again, I think with summer tourism in full swing people are Googling Amish businesses and landing on some of our pages, but this is a good, informative post. Click here.
