5 Amish Recipes to Go Bananas Over

Bananas are an important fruit in the Amish kitchen.  You wouldn't necessarily, historically, think there would be much of a culinary connection between the Amish and bananas, but the fruit is an easy one to export and keeps for long periods, so boxes of bananas have often been a staple in local Amish bulk food stores.  For that reason, bananas have become popular in Amish kitchens.  It's one of the few fruits that can't be grown in typical Amish areas that are popular and purchased, most fruits the Amish eat are homegrown (apples, cherries, grapes, peaches, etc).

And once bananas became popular in Amish kitchens, Amish cooks went to work mashing them and slicing them and putting them into all sorts of yummy dishes, here are five, including Asters choice; Amish Banana Pudding.
