I posted a link the other day to kid-friendly fun in Lancaster County, PA and I thought "gee, I could write something like that."  So here's my take on the same topic in Holmes County, Ohio.  Now, keep in mind, there a gazillion things to do there, I'm just picking five that everyone can do.  But, man, there are some awesome bike trail that wind through the county, there is Mohican State Park, there are just a ton of things to see and do. But here are 5.  Oh, one other event that I would love to take my daughter to is the annual "Farm Field Day" held on an Amish farm each summer. Details about this year's event have not been announced, but a sample from past years (again, that link is from 2013, NOT from this year, I was just giving you an idea...sounds like a lot of fun!)

SHARP RUN FARM MARKET:  This is probably my favorite business for kids in Holmes County because it is actually Amish-owned.  They have fresh seasonal produce, a corn maze in the fall, animals and more all under the aegis of Lloyd Miller.  It's not the flashiest business around and it doesn't advertise its Amish-owned status, but it is a fun place to visit.

BERLIN BULK FOODS:  This is an Amish-owned bulk food store in Berlin, a great place for the kids to pick up candy by the scoop!  They are located at 2 N Market St, Berlin, OH 44610.

JUST DRIVE:  Let the kids pick the roads and just disappear onto one of the many ribbons of road that disappear into the Holmes County, some of your best memories and discoveries will be the unplanned and unscripted ones you'll find when just randomly exploring.  You'll also find authentic, home-based Amish businesses which are the backbone of the Holmes County economy.

MRS. YODER'S KITCHEN:  Cap off your wonderful day in Holmes County with a hearty Amish buffet supper at my favorite of Amish restaurants!  Click here for their website.

LEHMAN'S:  Not technically in Holmes County, but close enough.  Kids will love exploring the rooms and rooms of amazing stuff from camping equipment to cookie cutters. Click here.
