A CART AND A BUGGY...although I know some people who call grocery carts buggies, so maybe this photo should be entitled "A Buggy and a Buggy." This was a scene I snapped in the IGA parking lot in Sugarcreek, Ohio. I'll have lots of photos, stories, and scenes to share in the days ahead from the largest Amish community in the world: the Holmes-Wayne-Tuscarawas County region of Ohio, so stay tuned!:) It was a gorgeous day to be exploring there! What is your favorite destination in Ohio's Amish country?

We have two Amish families that we are priviledged to call friends in Holmes County, near Charm and Farmerstown. I would love to live there, but thankful we are able to visit three times a year.

I have a picture in the same place of a horse and buggy we took on a trip to Holmes County in July.

I have only been at and around Lehman's..we went a year ago. I really liked it! We traveled alot of the back roads around Kidron. A neat store in Kidron was the Kidron town and country..they had alittle of everything!!

They have the best chicken noodles I'v had in years. Love walnut creek Inn ,and they even have a dinner theater close by,When the town had a major sewer problem and we had to remove ourselves Dutch valley inn was just as inviting.

Just got back from 3 days in Holmes Cty. Stayed at the Berlin Grande Hotel -- will definitely stay there again! My favorite places would have to be Lehman's in Kidron and Hershberger's Farm & Bakery. Both have something for everyone in the family, young and old! Honestly there are too many wonderful places in HC to narrow it down to one!

My daughter and I are looking forward to our trip to Holmes County next month. My favorite place is Charm. It's a fitting name, and I get such a sense of peace when I visit there.

We have our own Amish to visit just East of Newark, ohio on Rte. 16.
A sells family sells home baked goods behind the Wendy's on Dayton Rd.
Wonderful people. But Amish do not believe in having their pictures taken.

Several times a year my husband or some times a girl friend of mine travel to Berlin, Ohio. There is a little Amish owned bulk store in the heart of town that I like to go to. There is an older Amish woman who is always behind the counter. She is short and round with the sweetest smile you ever saw. I also enjoy the Gospel Book Store. Cindy's diner with the antique store that is in the same building. If we stay over night we head out to Kidron to Lehman's. I love that store, its just so much fun. You can also get some great buys from their discount store which is located in a building behind the main one. I was there in July with a friend and she and I could not get over the sea of buggies across the street from Lehman's for an all day auction that was going on. I so wished I had my camera with me, could have gotten some wonderful shots (those that could be taken without offending them of course). Always before we head back to Pittsburgh we drive through the country side to look at all the beautiful farms. They are so neat, orderly and clean. The simplicity of it all is so peaceful, I can instantly feel my whole body relax. How I wish I could bottle it and take it home with me.

I've not been to Cindy's diner, I'll have to check that out. I love the little bulk store in Berlin, I know the people that run it, been to their house before...very sweet, very devout New Order Amish....very peaceful place, for sure...we always like to stay at Zinck's right in the heart of Berlin, inexpensive and you're serenaded by the "clip-clopping" of horses....
