Does anyone in Amish Cook land watch the ABC drama, Revenge? Â I do watch the show. Â It's a fun, suspense-filled stew of shady characters and wealthy-intrigue. Â The thing is the show is exactly opposite of anything Amish. Â The upcoming PBS special, The Amish, quotes a young Amish woman's view on forgiveness. She says that forgiveness does not mean you forget, but it means you surrender to God your right to seek vengeance. I love that line of thought, it's very powerful. Â And then on the opposite end of the spectrum here's this show that's all about revenge, just pure, icy vengeance.
The acting, however, is superb. Pictured here is Madeline Stowe, a great actress, who co-stars with Emily VanCamp to make this a break-out hit. Â That said, it sort of troubles me to see vengeance so emphasized over forgiveness...but...I know, it's Hollywood, entertainment, etc, so I guess I shall not over-think it. Â What do you think? Is there a place for vengeance? Â Or does forgiveness always win out in the end? Â Do you watch the show?

Totally addicted to this show.

Hi, Karen, good to see you on the site! And, yes, so many plot-gripping twists and turns....next week's episode looks crazy based on the previews!

Love the show. I have to record it because it's past my bedtime. I freaked out one time when it didn't record but found the show on the website and watched it. I blamed it on Swine Warner Cable for not recording it and for recording shows I do not watch at all. Time to tell them cable and the phone is acting up.

Well...if I owned a tv I'd probably not watch it. Just doesn't appeal to me at all. Besides, my belief is to forgive and accept what you can not change. Revenge is like saying do as evil does. Stoop to the others level. That's not me.
Kevin
Well said, Heather.....and welcome to the new website!
Heather
Thanks Kevin. I've been partaking of it since its creation and am really enjoying it. However, I still can't log in. UGH.

I'm with you Heather. I have a TV, but currently it's only job is to hold my son's creations from grade school. I see TV at my mother's and feel SO GLAD I don't watch anymore.

I never miss it. I could not let "those people" get away with what they've done. Forgive, and they go merrily on their way, with no consequences. I don't think so.Would you let your Dad forever be thought of a terrorist?. I'd want to 'FIX" that.

You mentioned a upcoming special about the Amish. Will you let us know when it will be showing so we won't miss it? I Love the column!
Kevin
Veneita, welcome! It airs February 28 on PBS at 8 p.m., should be a good show!

I don't watch the other two.....but there's a new one coming on soon, called Military Wives...probably will watch that one..... gotta do something in the wintertime LOL

Yes, I love Revenge. I watch it every week and can't wait to see what Emily has up her sleeve. However, I do believe she goes to extremes getting even. And does her sweetheart die in the end............no one knows. WATCH IT!

Nope never watch T V

Guess I'm with the minority. I rarely watch TV at all. My husband has it on constantly (ICK!!!). I may watch the weather, then I just tune it out and turn on my radio or BOCD while I'm working. Since we don't get PBS anymore, I don't watch anything on a regular basis, and from the summary you gave, Kevin...this show would be at the bottom of my list anyway.
