    The Berne Clocktower...

The Berne Clocktower makes a couple appears in the book, it's official name is The Muensterberg Clock Tower

    By Kevin Williams

My novel. Abraham's Redemption, is set in Adams County, Indiana specifically in a fictional farmhouse just south of Berne.  And even though it is fictional  it didn't stop me from trying to find where Abraham Schwartz might have lived when I was last there!:)  Sure enough there was an Amish farmhouse that could have roughly fit the description in the book.    It's kind of fun when writing fiction how the characters and places and emotions become almost real to the author.  An author's hope is that they then become real for the reader.  So as the book ships out and more of you read it, I'll be curious to hear what you think.

Other real places in Berne, Indiana that appear in the book include the public library, the First Bank of Berne and the ever popular Berne Community Market.  Oh, and the clock tower, we can't forget the imposing clock tower that watches over Berne.

Could have this particular story happened in Berne?  Well, I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but.....maybe...I mean there are parts that absolutely could have, but other parts might have been more believable in Holmes County, Ohio or northern Indiana, but at the time I wrote this I was trying to sort of do my own "ode to Berne" so I made Berne the background.  But the Swiss Amish of Berne are less open to outsiders than, say, the ones in Holmes County or Shipshewana, I think Abe - the main protagonist in the book - would feel more at home in Holmes.  But it's fiction, so my main goal was to entertain and maybe educate along the way.  Enjoy!
