Amish Amazon and A Great Christmas Pie!

SMITH'S AMISH FOOT CREAM:  I bought some of this once, but I misread the label.  I bought it hoping for relief from my constantly dry and cracked feet (I know, too much information).  I was hoping it was a moisturizer.  But it's not, I guess it's really mean more for burning and cramping in the legs and feet which, fortunately, I don't experience.  So the cream didn't really help me, but if you are looking for some sort of foot relief, perhaps this will do something for you. Click here.

AMISH COUNTRY ESSENTIALS CHICKWEED SALVE:  I have tried this and I thought it was pretty good.  I've met the owners of this small company outside of Berlin, Ohio and they seem pretty diligent.  So if you are looking for a non-medicinal, herbal answer to itchy skin or a rash or dry skin, this works pretty well. Click here.

GLUTEN-FREE AMISH CINNAMON ROLLS:  These cinnamon rolls are made from an Amish recipe and for those who can't eat gluten, these would be a good option to get your Amish cinnamon roll fix.  Luckily, or unluckily, I can eat all the gluten I want without being bothered.  Anyway, click here.

KING SYRUP:  Ah, if you live in a part of the US where King Syrup is not sold (and that is basically anywhere outside of Pennsylvania), you can get your fix from Amazon.  Reader Sharon was nice enough to send me a bottle a couple of years ago and my daughter, Aster, and I enjoyed it so much on our pancakes.  It's like a mix between corn syrup and pancake syrup.  It's good stuff and it is quite popular in Pennsylvania's Amish country.  Click here to check it out!

RAISIN PIE FILLING:  Wow, raisin pie is one of those staples of Amish cooking and, man, that pie has become a favorite.  I am not a huge raisin fan but there is just something about raisin pie that works....the flavors meld together perfectly into this comforting, creamy and wonderful pie.  And I was excited to see that Scherger's Kettle in Shipshewana, Indiana actually sells homemade raisin pie filling.  Wow, would love to get my hands on some of this!

AMISH RAISIN PIE:  Check out our amazing Amish36 recipe for Amish raisin pie...skip a bunch of steps by just buying the filling!

100s of AMISH HINTS:  One of the allures of the Amish is that they somehow possess a repository of wisdom that perhaps the rest of us don't...age-old hints and advice passed down unfiltered through the generations.  While the Amish are probably overromanticized in this regard, I do think there is some truth to this perception....that is why this book intrigues me...here is how it is described:

The self-sufficient Amish book is about making the most of what you have on hand. Like using herbs and condiments to treat minor illnesses... pantry items for laundry chores... natural ingredients for pest control. Find all this and more in this wonderful book of Amish hints where you'll discover simple health remedies, money-saving cooking tips, ingenious gardening advice, clever cleaning solutions, even the recipe for a happy marriage.

Boy, I could sure use some of those hints! Click here to check out this book, I think are only around one or two left in stock.
