    Hi Kevin,
Have you heard of BAG BALM ? It is used for cow teats….maybe for other things I don’t know….but my friend told me about it, she uses it for her chapped hands in the winter and her heels….says it works…..and yes it does work, it is real greasy, best time to to use it is before you go to bed….will need to wear gloves tho and if you put on your feet, need to wear socks to bed…..I bought some white cotton gloves that I use when I put it on my hands…..only have had to use it once this winter…

I agree on the Bag Balm. I used to work at a nursing home and we used it extensively. Another great product for dry , cracked skin is Eucerin Cream. A small amount is needed so a jar lasts a good while. Plain old fashioned petroleum jelly ( Vaseline) is a good remedy too but wear socks to bed to save the sheets. Nana

Kevin, she is right! Bag balm works great for chapped or really dry skin. We’ve used it forever on this farm. I even used jt for our kid’s diaper rash! The smell might take some getting used to, though! Also, I have the cookbook. I bought that one a long time ago!

Good to hear from you, Barb. I will definitely be putting “bag balm” on my list!

Bag Balm was recommended by my doctor for my daughter’s diaper rash in 1971. It was the absolute best in healing the rash that was so common with the use of REAL cotton diapers and rubber baby pants (before the days of disposable diapers). It’s almost pure lanolin and I still find it useful for calloused hands and feet. The bonus is that it’s cheap and a goes a long way. I avoid any petroleum based creams such as Eucerin or Vaseline because after all, they are petroleum based (fine for my car but not very healthy when absorbed into the skin).

Good points, Linda, about petroleum, I am going to order some bag balm!
