Let’s see what is on Amish Amazon this week. We have an interesting selection of items from affiliate links. First stop, Florida…
A TASTE OF PINECRAFT: I have this delightful cookbook, packed full of recipes that reflect the diverse kitchens of Florida’s only Amish settlement. The book is written by Sherry Gore who is a convert to the Beachy Amish Mennonite church, so she doesn’t have deep family roots in the church, but still does a good job of curating recipes that reflect a sense of place. TWO SHOOFLY PIES: This actually isn’t a bad deal, two homemade shoofly pies from the Bird-in-Hand bakery in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Order a couple of these, stick them in the freezer and take them out to thaw the day before Thanksgiving. Shoofly pie is a treat with its nice, rich molasses flavor. PUMPKIN COOKIES WITH CREAM CHEESE AND WALNUT FROSTING: Wow, these cookies straight from Shipshewana, Indiana’s Amish settlement look and sound amazing, click here.
HOMEMADE PUMPKIN BUTTER – From Byler’s Relish House, this looks like a perfect autumn treat. Click here.
DUNKARD BRETHREN: This is a rare 1000-recipe cookbook from the Dunkard Brethren. You don’t see these often. The Dunkard Brethren are a Plain group that shares similarities with the Amish and other Brethren groups, and their simple cooking and recipes are showcased in this book. Click here to see.
