    Amish Attacks in Berne....

    Published: Sep 21, 2012 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 1 Comment

This is just a bizarre story and it had to be terrifying for the Amish victims, especially an Amish woman who got clobbered in the leg with a baseball bat.  Apparently some low-life druggies needed money for their fix and to fund a move to Fort Wayne, Indiana where they could presumably get more cocaine.  So a 42-year-old woman hatches a plan to use her sons and sons friends to attack Amish out and about in their buggies and demand money.  I suppose they thought the Amish would be easy targets.  Perhaps they heard somewhere that they are pacifists and don't fight back.  Or maybe they thought that the Amish don't usually carry plastic so that they'd be an easy cash score.  Well, these criminals were not the brightest cows in the herd (not to be insulting to cows).  First, any attack on Amish people is going to generate more publicity than might be typical because they are pacifists and sort of considered a distinct cultural group.  Second,  most Amish - as a general rule - don't carry rolls of $20s on them.  In one of the attacks, for instance, the attacker escaped with just a few dollars. Third, while I've never attempted it, I would think robbing a buggy would be tough...horses are unpredictable, the occupants ride up rather high.  It was just a very cowardly and ill-conceived plan.  Glad the perpetrators were quickly caught! This just makes me so mad. Berne is not that far from me . Why can't people leave the Amish alone? They harm nobody and are hard working people
