    Amish Cook: Homemade Hot Dog Sauce

    This is a popular homemade hot dog sauce which some Amish cooks in Michigan use!

    Hot Dog Sauce

    Ingredients
    • 1 pound hamburger
    • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 2 teaspoons cumin
    • 3 teaspoons paprika
    • 1 tablespoon minced onion
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 can tomato sauce
    • 1 can water
    • 1 /4 cup ketchup
    Instructions
    1. Brown hamburger in enough water to cover bottom of the pan.
    2. Break up meat as it cooks.
    3. Add remaining ingredients.
    4. Simmer for 1 hour.
    5. Serve over hot dogs.

      This sounds a lot like "Pete's Chili Sauce" that my mom grew up eating on hot dogs. Yummy.

        Steve, Lovina would be using a quart of home-canned tomato sauce for this, so I'd go as close to that measurement as you can - Editorkevin
