There's something about Amish doughnuts that are noteworthy: they are LARGE.
My sister-in-law brought a box of doughnuts recently as she traveled from Columbus to a family funeral in our hometown. She ducked into Der Dutchman in Plain City, Ohio and came out with this:
Box of Der Dutchman Donuts
Mmmmm, massive doughnuts
Those doughnuts didn't hang around the house very long....mmm, I would cut off little bites with a butter knife, hoping against hope that I'd be satisfied with just a nibble or two. Nope. Gradually, I'd end up slicing off another little piece. Another another. And, dang, I might have well just picked it up and eaten it in one sitting.
Amish-style doughnuts are amazing, Rise N Roll in Indiana comes to mind.
