    Amish Dream Cake

    Published: May 8, 2014 · Updated: May 9, 2014 by Kevin Williams | 4 Comments

I sampled this cake once at an Amish church function.Yum, yum, yum.

It is a really moist cake that is sometimes served at the after-church meal.

I sampled it once in Montana's Amish settlement.  I wish I had a photo, but I do have the recipe.

If someone else makes it and wants to share a photo, please do.

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    Instructions
    1. Beat egg whites until frothy.
    2. Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff.
    3. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks and salt until very thick and lemon colored. Add water and beat.
    4. Add sugar gradually, beating until thick enough to hold a soft peak.
    5. Fold egg whites and flour into egg yolk mixture.
    6. Bake in tube pan 40 minutes at 350.

Good question...You make it in a tube pan, if memory serves me right, it was more "angel" than sponge!:)

Sponge. Angel food does not use the yolks.

Thank you so much Betsy, I was trying to remember back to her three years which is when I last tried the cake and I just couldn't remember exactly. That helps
