This is another installment of one of our occasional whirls through the world of Etsy in search of anything and everything Plain or Amish. Take a look at this edition's interesting stuff! (As with all Etsy stuff, buyer beware, I can't vouch for the veracity or authenticity of any of these things, it's just fun to browse!)
AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD: This is an interesting entry because it's not often you can buy Amish Friendship Bread. In this entry, you can buy a half a loaf for just $4.99. Apparently the recipe is a blue-ribbon award winning one and tastes great with a big glass of milk. Click here to check out this bread.
VINTAGE MENNONITE COOKBOOK: This is a gem because of where it is from....this is a 1940s German Mennonite church cookbook from Inman, Kansas. I am sure these are superb recipes that really have deep roots in Amish-Mennonite culinary culture. And the fact they are from Kansas and not Pennsylvania will really reflect a local flavor in the recipes. Check out this cookbook here.
A mid-20th century repository of Pennsylvania Dutch recipes...
PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH COOKBOOK: This looks like an intriguing repository of recipes from Pennsylvania's Dutch country. I thought I was familiar with most of the cookbook authors and cookbooks from that era and genre, but I had not heard of this one before. Click here to see more.
AMISH BREAD PUDDING: If you want to pay $1.59, you can download an authentic recipe for Amish Bread Pudding right here....still is mystifying to me that the seller can get people to pay $1.59 for recipes, but it must work for her. Click here to see more.
DUTCH BLITZ: I love this card game. I've played in several Amish homes before and it is just a fun, classic card game and is popular among the Plain people...good, wholesome family fun. I'm not sure how long it has been around, but this is a vintage set from the 1970s...click here to see..
