It's fun to peruse Etsy, the world's largest online craft marketplace, to see what sort of Amish-themed items can be found. Turns out you can find a lot, from paintings, to quilts, to dolls, to food. The food stuff really interests me. Interests me from a "yum" factor and from a marketing angle. Let's look at some of the things I found this week:
AMISH HAM BONE SOUP RECIPE: You know, I didn't realize it, but this is timely with it being Easter. So, for $1, you can buy a recipe, supposedly an Amish woman's authentic handwritten recipe from the 1930s with notes in the margins, etc. Wow. Now, if it's authentic, I mean, it would be a wonderful culinary capsule into the past. You know, for a buck, what do you have to lose? You might get an amazingly authentic ham bone soup recipe. Click here to check out the post for the $1 recipe.
FRIED PIES: Wow...these look amazing...eight fried pies for $20. That's not terrible at all, actually. You do have to pay shipping. And, whoa, if you look at the photo the glaze looks incredible. These are not purported to be Amish-made but they are made in Nova, Ohio which is in Ashland County, Ohio's Amish country and I have a deep, long connection to the little town of Nova's Amish community, but I don't have time to get into that today. Check out her flavors: Apple, Cherry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Mixed Berry, Peach, Lemon, Butter Pecan, Coconut Pecan, Chocolate Cream, Coconut Cream. You can order 8 of one kind or mix and match. There are some flavors that really intrigue me....the mixed berry, the coconut cream, and the butter pecan...WOW...Anyway, click here for these amazing pies.
GOIN' TO MARKET: I liked this peaceful print of an Amish buggy "goin' to market." Just gorgeous imagery. I almost find the frame it is in overwhelmingly big. I'd do a thinner frame, I think. Anyway, check it out here.
Amish Friendship Bread
AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD: These are some of the best-looking loaves of Amish friendship bread that I have seen. My mouth is watering as I write this. Homemade Amish Friendship bread baked and shipped the same day, chocolate, nuts, raisins. Click here to see more detail.
HOLY COW - THESE ARE EVEN MORE AMAZING LOOKING THAN THE BREAD - I love sugar cookies. Truly I do. What's one thing I like even more than sugar cookies? Iced sugar cookies. This lady is not Amish, but she is selling what she calls Amish sugar cookies, and, yeah, I may just have to buy some sometime. Soon. Click here to see.
