This is one of our occasional tours through Etsy to peek at anything and everything Amish. Have some interesting stuff today.
AMISH OR MENNONITE HAT? This is a clothing item listed that the seller said reminds them of an Amish or Mennonite hat but, I don't know about you, it doesn't do it for me. I'm not sure I've ever seen an Amish or Mennonite person wearing a hat like that. Almost reminds me of something 1800s New Englandish, but not Amish. Click here to see for yourself.
AMISH BUTTERMILK PIE: I did a rant about this a few weeks ago but then left out the link, so I'll do it again. This is a recipe for Amish Buttermilk Pie, but you have to pay $1.59 to get it. Do you really think many people pay $1.59 for a single recipe? I mean, it was a disaster when I tried to put a 1500 word photo, text, recipe package on my site for $1.30, I can't imagine people would pay $1.59 for a recipe.....but click here if you want to....And you can get a free recipe for Amish Buttermilk Recipe from Amish365.com by just clicking here!
MENNONITE APRON? I'll put this in the same category as the hat....what the heck makes this "Mennonite Apron"...just the style? Odd...click here to see and read more...
RARE BOOK: I'd love to have more information...about this....a rare book with Amish historical value published in 1815 in Lancaster, now that sounds like a gem,but there's just very little information....click here to see.
1958 DUTCH COOKBOOK: The book doesn't say "Pennsylvania Dutch" but that is the implication. I've said before that any time you can get recipes/cookbooks from that mid-20th century period you really will find a "culinary time capsule" of authentic recipes as Amish cooking was sort of just being discovered and catalogued at the time and hadn't really been polluted by pop culture.
