Amish Etsy: Tillie the Mennonite Maid, Noodles, Cashew Crunch and More!

This is part of our weekly whirl through the stacks of Etsy, the fascinating online bazaar of hand-made items or attic-bound treasure troves.

TILLIE THE MENNONITE MAID:  This is fascinating, a book published in 1904 that is a fictional portrayal of Mennonite life.  The book was controversial in its day for its harsh portrayal of Mennonite life.  An original copy is available from an Etsy shop, sounds like some fascinating reading! Click here to see more.

PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH POT PIE KIT:  Wow, this seems like a good deal.  For $6 you get a bag of homemade Pennsylvania Dutch-style pot pie noodles, a recipe, a decorative tin, and a package of saffron to spice up your noodles.  Saffron is a common spice in Pennsylvania Dutch kitchens, but not so much in Amish kitchens, at least outside of Pennsylvania. Click here to peek at this kit.

AMISH CASHEW CRUNCH: Well, it's not Amish-made, but Amish recipe...ships from Florida but it looks darn yummy! Click here to see.

AMISH VINTAGE COOKIE TIN: This is a really pretty, decorative tin...Buy this and put your cashew crunch in it!:) Click here to peek at this tin.

AMISH PEANUT BUTTER:  Wow, this is a jar of Amish "church spread" or sometimes called "Amish peanut butter."    Or you can just make some yourself with 3 parts marshmallow creme, peanut butter, and corn syrup.  But if you don't want to make it yourself, you can buy it here!
