One of the best things about spring in Amish country is driving a backroad and discovering a small home-based Amish greenhouse selling everything from seedlings to shrubs, most of them lovingly tended to. This was a little Amish greenhouse that I stumbled upon in a remote corner of Highland County, Ohio on Hardins Creek Road. This is a gorgeous area near the Paint Creek Lake Wildlife Area. The road is dotted with small Amish businesses and greenhouses.
As winter turns to spring, if you are looking to make your green thumb a little greener you should make it your mission to go explore an Amish community and check out a homegrown greenhouse. The smaller, the better, I think! (That's just my personal bias, there are many huge Amish-owned greenhouses that have great product).
I love discovering little home-based Amish nurseries and greenhouses as spring arrives.
A greenhouse outside the Amish home gives this home-based business a chance to get a head-start on spring!
And if you can't find a greenhouse drive around and find Amish home-based businesses like this one on Hardins Creek Road in Highland County...
