One of the best things about spring in Amish country is driving a backroad and discovering a small home-based Amish greenhouse selling everything from seedlings to shrubs, most of them lovingly tended to. This was a little Amish greenhouse that I stumbled upon in a remote corner of Highland County, Ohio on Hardins Creek Road. This is a gorgeous area near the Paint Creek Lake Wildlife Area. The road is dotted with small Amish businesses and greenhouses.
As winter turns to spring, if you are looking to make your green thumb a little greener you should make it your mission to go explore an Amish community and check out a homegrown greenhouse. The smaller, the better, I think! (That’s just my personal bias, there are many huge Amish-owned greenhouses that have great product).
