Time for some Amish in the news….
SHUNNED: Interesting story about an Amish man who was drafted into the service. Now, this Amish man would not have had to have served overseas.. Hmmmm, you know, I am not sure. I’ve known some Amish who were drafted during 20th century wars but because of their pacificist believes they were permitted to serve in the United States in support capacities. So this Amish man probably could have done that, but he chose to go overseas to serve and paid a price. I don’t think, if the same thing happened today, he would have been shunned in the same way. Shunning is increasingly rare among the Amish. Click here to read more about this interesting case.
