SORRY, SIGH, WRONG LINK THE DAILY EMAIL, CLICK HERE IF YOU CAME FOR THE JUICY BURGER RECIPE!

    By Kevin Williams

We have a full slate of stories in this week's Amish in the News. I tell you, though, it seems like there have been more buggy-car collisions than usual lately.  Not sure if that is because of the rising Amish population simply increasing the statistical odds or if the warmer than usual spring weather is just bringing buggies and motorists out onto the roads more.

BUGGY-CAR CRASH ROUND-UP FOR THE WEEK:

    Seven injured in Iowa

Russellville, Kentucky:  Car demolishes buggy. Horse survives.

Salem, Indiana:  Truck-buggy collide, horse doesn't survive, driver does.

Man Faces Charges for Rear-Ending Buggy

There were a few other buggy-car crash articles I didn't include in this round-up because they were behind paywall but, holy cow, everyone be alert on the roads in Amish country.  Allow for adequate stopping distances and slow down!

BOLIVIAN MENNONITES:   On my "bucket list" someday is visiting a Plain community south of the border, whether it be Mexico or South American.  Here you have old colony horse and buggy Mennonites live out their religion and culture in a very different environment than you have in the USA.  You'll want to look at this just for the super, super photography depicting their life.  Excellent! Click here.

WANT TO ESCAPE POLITICS? Head to Pinecraft, Florida (or anywhere Amish, for that matter), Click here for this fun piece from the Sarasota, Florida paper.

SARA MILLER'S AMISH CORNER:  Wonderful writing from an Amish scribe in Geauga County, Ohio.

MILLIE OTTO'S TREASURE COOKIES:  Check out the latest from this Illinois Amish scribe.

AMISH CENTER EXPANDING -  The Young Center for Anabaptist Studies at Elizabethtown College is set to grow! Click here for more.
