UPDATE - CELEBRITY CHEF TURNS AMISH : Former celebrity chef still happy in Unity.  We talked about this earlier this year and this is just a fascinating story.  A former chef at one of Charlie Trotter's renowned restaurants decided to leave behind the pressure-cooker life of the restaurant biz, convert to the Amish, and peddle his craft in rural Maine.  The community he chose - Unity  - is a far more open and welcoming one than other Amish settlements, so I am not surprised that he chose Unity....with 2016 coming to a close, he is still finding friendly footing there. Click here for the latest.

HUTTERITE GIFTS:    This is a really sweet story about a Hutterite woman who is helping to make Christmas brighter for some people by putting her own talents to work. Click here.

MISSOURI AMISH OUTREACH:  This is a great story about building bridges between conventional medicine and the more insular Amish  Click here to read this.

POT PIE HAND PIES:  This isn't Amish, but the resemblance to Amish fried pies in looks are absolutely uncanny.  It's really like a savory version of a fruit fried pie.  Click here for the recipe.

YODER'S HOMETOWN MARKET:  No, not related to Gloria Yoder, but this was an interesting interview with a business-owned in Dover, Ohio who is striving to "bring Amish country to your hometown."  I'd not be surprised to see this expand into a chain.  Click here for the interview.
