An Amish woman pedals through Pinecraft....

PINECRAFT AUCTION:  This is the peak season for Pinecraft, the Amish enclave in Sarasota, Florida. Amish snowbirds fill restaurants, beaches, and parks taking in the warm sun and playing shuffleboard.  But all these people also unit to create good as they did recently by raising money for the impoverished country of Haiti with a big auction. AMISH PARTY BUSTED:    Amish teenagers gathered in northern Indiana to drink alcohol and socialize.  But they grew rowdy and police moved in, and I am glad.  The "rumspringa" party shouldn't be a license to break the law and if Amish kids are drinking underage, they should, in my view, be treated as anyone else.  Click here to read more.

AMISH AND MENNONITES ARRIVE IN THE NORTHERN NECK:   States have panhandles and peninsulas...New York has its "North Country", but Virginia?  Apparently it has its "northern neck" and Amish and Mennonites are moving there to escape overcrowding elsewhere.  Click here to read more.

GENETIC MYSTERY SOLVED: Why were seemingly healthy Amish teenagers collapsing and dying in a handful of Amish families?  Science solved the mystery. Click here.

Laundry flaps on the line...who needs a dryer with a stiff breeze almost always blowing across the Illinois flatlands?

MILLIE'S MAPLE CREAM COFFEE TREAT:  Check out Millie Otto's latest column. She is an Amish columnist in Illinois.  It's alwauys fun to check in to see what is going on in her life. Click here to read more.
