Amish in the News: Abduction Upate, Amish Quilts, Hutterites in Montana, Noodle in a Haystack, and Peaches!

Lots of "Amish in the News" today, so let's get right into it!

AMISH ABDUCTION UPDATE:  This is a more heart-warming side of a wrenching story, so I thought I'd share it.  The Amish girls when their captors - panicked over the rising tide of media coverage - released them in a rural area made their way to a nearby home.  The husband and wife who lived in that home quickly fed the hungry and cold girls and then risked their own lives and safety to take the girls back to their family.  Now the Amish community is saying thank you in a heart-warming way. Click here to read the latest.

AMISH QUILTS:  If you like quilting and live anywhere near Wilmington, Delaware, here is a presentation you might want to check out.  Like everything Amish, "Amish quilts" have become muddied by tourism and commerce. So what really IS Amish quilting?  Click here to find out about an interesting presentation that will delve into that topic.

HUTTERITES IN MONTANA:  The communal Anabaptists have a rich history in Big Sky country.  Yes, the Amish have an increasing footprint in the state, but the Hutterites were there long before the Amish were. Click here to read more.

NOODLE IN A HAYSTACK:  Haystacks are a staple of Amish supper menus.  Read about a Pennsylvania woman who serves them regularly and the nice touches she adds to them.

JUST PEACHY:  This is an article about peaches in Missouri, I just like the section in there where an Amish woman is interviewed about her use of freestone peaches. So click here and look for the comments from Amish baker Becky Miller.
