Time for our weekly whirl through Amish country in search of any and everything newsy to share.  A couple of recipes in the news first!

This Amish-meets-Italian dish has its roots in Ohio

AMISH ITALIAN CASSEROLE:  This really piqued my interested because I have discussed the similarities and overlaps of Amish and Italian culinary culture on Amish365 plenty of times.  I think I was especially curious because this recipe was featured on a TV station in Idaho.  I wondered if somehow the recipe could have had its origins in the small Amish presence out there. But, nope, this particular recipe has its genesis in Ohio and if you watch the video portion of the story, the chef explains that.  But you can also skip the video and just get the recipe, click here for this delish-sounding dish.

MILLIE'S AMISH SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE:  Illinois Amish writer Millie Otto talks more about her recent trip to Canada and shares a recipe with us for Sweet Potato Casserole. Click here.

AMISH AUCTION IN DELAWARE:  Very well-written article about a huge annual auction held in Dover, Delaware's Amish community.  Funds raised go to benefit the local Amish school. Sounds like an amazing event with even more amazing food. C'mon, where else can you get a scrapple sandwich? The Amish menu there sounds amazing! Click here to read all about it and plan for it next year!

BUGGY CRASHES IN MAINE:  More about how recent buggy-car crashes around Whitefield, Maine have unsettled residents. Click here.

REMEMBERING THE NAPPANEE, INDIANA TORNADO 10 YEARS AGO:  I remember when a tornado tore through the Amish town of Nappanee.  Hard to believe it was 10 years ago.  Click here to read more.
