Got a lot in the news to get to today, so let's start unpacking!

    Jail....over chickweed....

AMISH SALVE MAKER BEHIND BARS STILL:  I'm shaking my head at this one...SIGH...yes, there are laws and,no, the Amish are not above them.  But, geez, the Amish come from a rich herbal tradition and they also come from a deeply entrepreneurial culture.  On this issue the two traits converged and not so well.  Okay, assuming the government is right and he was peddling some bad stuff...SIGH, prison?  Just seems an overreaction.  There had to have been a better way to deal with this.  Click here to read the latest.

AMISH MEAT - This story generated headlines a couple of years ago, was glad to see an update and that things are still going well for this Chicago celebrity chef turned Amish meat-maker. Click here for a fascinating story!

MILLIE'S AMISH VEGETABLE MEDLEY -  Check out Amish writer Millie Otto's latest, including a recipe for vegetable medley.

RECIPE FOR CHOW CHOW:  This Pennsylvania Dutch classic was featured in the Lancaster, PA newspaper the other day.  Good stuff! Click here.

MORE UTAH MENNONITES - I linked to an article a couple of weeks ago about a small but thriving Plain Mennonite church in Utah.  An article also appeared in the Brigham Young University campus paper about the Mennonite settlement and that article is actually better. Click here.

DOUGHNUT DELIGHT:  Man, if I lived anywhere near Cape Girardeau, Missouri I'd be headed to the farmers market for these doughnuts - stat!  These look amazing! Click here.
