are from. Click here to read about their doughnuts! '

DRUNK DRIVER PLOWS IN BUGGY - ALL 7 AMISH SURVIVE -  This is actually a good story.  How can a buggy crash story be good?  Well, a drunk driver plowed into the buggy and somehow everyone is expected to survive.  And I have been on this road before - US Route 224 in Ohio.  Cars generally move pretty fast as that is a main thoroughfare.  Click here to read the rest.

AH, SCRAPPLE - An Amish favorite for sure and a German favorite in general, the Lancaster paper did a great article about Scrapple this week, including six ways to make it. Click here to read. Here is our recipe on Amish365 for scrapple:

    Homemade Scrapple (Pon Haus)
3-4 pounds pork shanks or hocks
    Cornmeal or flour
    Salt
    Pepper
Over medium heat in large pot, cook pork until tender. Remove bones and skim fat from broth. Return meat to broth and add corn meal or flour, just enough to thicken. (Editor’s note: Amount of flour to be added will vary widely depending on the meat used; add flour one cup at a time until broth is a thick paste.) Season with salt and pepper. Pour into loaf pans. Chill overnight in a cellar or refrigerator. The next day, slice and fry over medium-high heat until golden brown on each side. Serve.

DUTCH WONDERLAND:   Has anyone been to this theme park in the heart of Pennsylvania's Amish country?  Typically a place like this would have zero appeal to me.  But, well, now that I have kids it doesn't sound so bad!   And they have some Halloween fun planned, click here to read more.

MILLIE'S RECIPE:  Sometimes her recipes sound amazing, other times not...this one I just don't know...Check out Illinois Amish columnist Millie Otto's recipe for Pecan Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Cream Cheese Glaze.....not sure how that sounds....not very appealing to me, but maybe it is good...click here for the recipe and to see what is happening with Millie this week.
