FUNNY CAKE FUNNIES: I guess funny cake has its funny side....people in Pennsylvania have differing accounts of how this cake got its side-splitting name. I always heard the term "funny cake" applied to a chocolate cake that didn't have any eggs in the ingredients. But deep in Pennsylvania Dutch country the recipe has other meanings and origins, it's more like a pie there. AMISH IN MAINE STRIVE FOR SAFETY:  City leaders in Whitefield, Maine are trying to find ways to make their new Amish neighbors safer on the roads (most Amish that I know don't want non-Amish people trying to find ways to make things "safer" for them). Town leaders handed out bright green armbands for children to wear on their way to and from school. Click here to read more.
