RISE N ROLL EXPANDS: Rise N Roll, for a long time, was a family owned Amish bakery near Shipshewana. Their doughnuts were mesmerizingly delicious.
The old family recipe of cinnamon caramel doughnuts proved to be a hit with the masses and eventually the Amish couple that started the bakery sold it to an outside company who is now franchising it. I'm sure the doughnuts are still wonderful but it simply isn't possible to replicate the taste of doughnuts being made on someone's stove-top fryer in a mass produced way. So part of me is kind of sad to witness the continued expansion, but...hey, if people still like them and the quality holds up, then more power to them.
