Got some interesting Amish in the News today. So let's get right to it!
THE NEW YORK TIMES VISITS THE AMISH - THE FUTURE IS CALLING: This is an interesting story. The New York Times covers the Amish more often than you'd think. Today they ran a fascinating, well-written piece about how the Amish grappling with adapting to the rising tide of technology. Great job by "The Gray Lady!" Click here to read the article.
AMISH BISHOP PLEADS GUILTY: This is a sad case. I'm NOT defending the bishop. He allowed himself to look the other way, minimize the abuse....but he probably had the insular attitude that a lot of older Amish have which is just that "everything will work out" and "why get authorities involved." KATIE PERRY IN AMISH COUNTRY: I liked this story, sounds very down-to-earth of the pop star to take in some of Lancaster's sights. I probably would not have done it on a Sunday because so much is closed, but it's probably the only time she had. I liked it that she ate at the Olive Garden. Click here.
MENNONITE MEETINGHOUSES: I had posted about this book a couple of weeks ago, but here is another article with even more photos. Man, this looks like a gorgeous book offering amazing insights. I may have to put this on my Christmas list!
MY AMISH HOME: Check out Amish columnist Millie Otto's column and her recipe for Peanut Butter Torte!
