HUTTERITE COLONY: Wow....some really good journalism. It's crazy because all the "reality" TV failed to accomplish what these journalists did in a 1:54 second video interview. I am linking to a video interview with 17-year-old Grace Hofer, a member of a Hutterite colony in Canada. She's articulate, fun, and wise-beyond-her-years.
So she provides great narration. But you also get some amazing glimpses into Hutterite life: the supper tables, the kitchen, glimpses that are rare. So try to clear 2 minutes out of your schedule to watch this, it really shows that short-form journalism can be just as effective as long. Click here for the video.
AMISH OUTLAWS: A band compromised of ex-Amish are making headlines today. It's not every day that aspiring musicians get interviewed by USA Today. I'm sure these musicians are very talented in their own right, but I'm sure the Amish angle is their hook. Click here to read an interview with them.
I also watched multiple clips of them on YouTube this morning and I think the problem - for me personally - isn't their schtick, it's their song choices. If you like "classic rock": Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, you'll probably enjoy them. I tend to like more Top 40 and disco from that era, anyway. But click here if you want to check out the Amish Outlaws, a tune from Bon Jovi here.
