Amish in the News: Millie's Homemade Butterhorns, 250 Amish Men Lift a Barn, Hutterites, Ben's Pretzels, and More!

We have some interesting Amish in the News this week, so let's get right to it!

Laundry flaps on the line...who needs a dryer with a stiff breeze almost always blowing across the Illinois flatlands?

MILLIE'S HOMEMADE BUTTERHORNS:   With formal Easter meals coming up, now is a good time to look at a recipe for these and Millie Otto delivers on it.  Click here to check in with Illinois Amish writer Millie Otto this week along with her recipe for homemade butterhorns. Click here.

250 AMISH MEN LIFT A BARN:   This video captures a lot of what people admire about the Amish, the built-in sense of community, of lending a hand to help a neighbor in need, of self-sufficiency ,and humility.  Need to move a barn?  No problem, not if you have 250 willing souls. I love it. Click here to watch this video shot near Danville, Ohio this past weekend.

HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER EGGS:  These are a holiday treat in Pennsylvania, click here to read more!

WRONG-WAY BUGGY:  This story is bizarre.  So many unanswered questions. An Amish buggy heads the wrong way down the Interstate, plows into a semi....the buggy was unoccupied.  Thank heavens.  Not so for the horse.  But how does a buggy escape from an Amish barn, go down the wrong ramp and end up on the interstate?  It seems like the horse would have had to do so many things wrong to end up there, but apparently, that is what happened. Click here.

BEN'S SOFT PRETZELS:  Man, I still have not been to one of these places and I want to!  It's the Amish Indiana answer to Auntie Anne's pretzels and they are continuing to expand but still none near me.  Click here to read more.  I guess I'll have to book a flight out of Indianapolis sometime soon!
