I've posted about this before, but this cake showed up at my mother-in-law's this past weekend (my SIL baked it and brought it)  so I'd be remiss in not taking a picture and showcasing it.  This is a great cake to make for the upcoming holidays: moist, full of flavor, easy and  unique.  Apples are in everything, but the lowly pear?  Kind of nice to give the pear its due from time to time, I think it is an underrated fruit.  This recipe was featured in our Amish Cook's Baking Book years ago and is a popular recipe in Amish kitchens especially around Christmas.  Click here for the pear cake recipe!
