Amish Amazon: Pumpkin Roll Loaf, Amish Wedding Pumpkin Butter, Cookbook, and More!

I'm experimenting with different features on this website, seeing what works, seeing what doesn't work. I've enjoyed "Amish Amazon", where you can purchase some of my favorite products, like Amish Wedding Pumpkin Butter, through affiliate links. Not sure I'll continue doing these posts, but here is what I came up with today:

AMISH PUMPKIN ROLL LOAF: Wow, this comes from the Bread Box Bakery in Shipshewana, Indiana. Man, nothing better than a pumpkin roll, but one made by Amish bakers? This is the description:

    • Made by Amish Bakers and shipped fresh to you.
    • Cake Roll: Flour, Sugar, Pumpkin, Eggs, Baking Soda, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Salt. Filling: Cream Cheese, Butter, Powdered Sugar, Evaporated Milk, Vanilla.
    • No Artificial Ingredients or preservatives added.
    • Produced in Amish Country Where Quality is a Way of Life

The reviews seem mixed, but I'll go with this: "This pumpkin loaf was delicious and exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered it. The roll lasted about a week after arrival before going bad."

AMISH COOKING: I love these "committee" cookbooks. They are very authentic and while this one has a funkier print style than some, the recipes seem very authentic and it is from 1992, and I think cookbooks from 30 years or more ago are more "real" than the ones today. The recipes are closer to the older German generations.

Here is a description: This classic cookbook includes over 800 old-time recipes from Amish country kitchens--Zucchini Squash Cake, Turnip Salad, Molasses Drop Cookies, Corn Fritters, Dandelions and Eggs, Smear Kase, Elderberry Custard, the famous Shoo-Fly Pie, and many more--with tips on curing meat, making cheese, preserving fruits and vegetables, and using leftovers.

    You can order one here!

AMISH WEDDING PUMPKIN BUTTER: Not sure what this would taste best on, perhaps just spread on bread? It sounds amazing and perfect for this time of year when pumpkin is in basically everything. Click here to check out this kind from Amish Wedding Foods.

DELUXE AMISH WOODEN TOY: I've looked at this several times and, wow, well, over $300. If it would keep my child entertained for hours as the description says, then, yes, it would be worth every penny. Here is a description:

    • Quality Crafted by Amish Craftsmen in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
    • Keep Your Kids Entertained for Hours!
    • A Great Classroom Educational Toy!

Yeah, I think my daughters would play with it for 10 minutes and then get bored. Just my guess. You can click here to see more and purchase.

AMISH-MADE HORSE AND BUGGY PENNY PIGGYBANK: Now, this, interestingly, is a fraction of the price of the above toy but I think would keep my kids more entertained. I love the buggy craftsmanship, love the idea of a buggy piggy bank. I still think my favorite thing here is the Amish Wedding Pumpkin Butter, but here is a description:

    • Quality Crafted by Amish Craftsmen in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
    • Perfect for Teaching Kids About Saving Money.
    • Made out of Solid Wood - Built to Last for a Lifetime of Play.
    • Safe for Young Kids - Comes with a Non-Toxic Finish!
