    How About Some Butterscotch Brownies?

    Published: May 20, 2012 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 2 Comments

Yum, few things beat a gooey, chewy, bursting with butterscotch brownie. I've made this one on a couple of occasions and it's sort of a cross between a bar and a brownie and it's got a nice butterscotchy taste.  These can be put in a sealer container and are a favorite after-school snack in Amish homes.  Very easy recipe so it this one a go!

    BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES

    Butterscotch Brownies

    Ingredients
    • 1 /4 cup butter
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 /2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 /2 cup nuts
    Instructions
    1. Melt butter in a pan over medium heat.  Add brown sugar and stir for 1-2 minutes, until it has a thick, peanut butter-like consistency.
    2. Let cool, then stir in beaten egg and vanilla, followed by flour, salt, and baking powder.  Once combined, stir in nuts.  Spread the batter into a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, or until edges begin to brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Cut into squares while warm and sprinkle with powdered sugar.  Place leftovers in air-tight container.

That amount of batter seems as though it would be quite thinly spread in a 9x13 pan. I have not yet tried it but it seems as though 8x8 might be more suitable.

As far as the passwords, I guess I am old school. I just keep a notebook. I live alone so no one really sees it but me, but I am thinking if it was a bigger audience one would need a hiding spot.

SIGH a notebook seems so quaint, I like that....and, I agree, 8 X 8 would give you a thicker brownie with the amount of batter, I'd go with that.
