    Can You Spot the Buggy?

    Published: Dec 1, 2015 · Updated: Dec 1, 2015 by Kevin Williams | 4 Comments

    By Kevin Williams

Okay, this was on one of the busiestIMG_0950.1 travel days of the year around Thanksgiving and  we were traveling on I-71 near Ashland, Ohio and my wife suddenly spied this buggy ambling slowly across the overpass.  It was a quiet contrast to the bustling artery of cars and trucks just below it.   This was the best she could get going 75 mph (she wasn't driving) on short notice, but the little smudge of black on the overpass is the horse-drawn buggy.

I doubt 20 years ago you would have seen a buggy there, although maybe.  There's the large cluster of Amish settlements to the east of I-71 making up the sprawling Holmes County community (which also encompasses Wayne, Morrow, Richland Counties) and then another Amish community outside Ashland. Those two large "islands of Amish" have gradually been growing together over the past couple of decades and converging around I-71 where this buggy was seen.

Keven was that Rachael's photographic endeavor . Excellent!!! I could not have reacted that fast. The picture says a lot when a person studies it.

LOL, yes, Rachel was fumbling for her phone camera and under the circumstances that picture came out pretty well. Also, the Amish are getting closer and closer to you...Idaho now....only a matter of time before your part of Washington has a horse and buggy settlement!
