Chocolate Crinkle Cookies and Other Goodies

    Published: Feb 12, 2013 · Updated: Feb 2, 2021 by Kevin Williams | 1 Comment

Rise N Roll is a popular destination in northern Indiana for Amish baked goods, but there are many other great Amish-owned bakeries in the country's third largest Amish settlement (Shipshewana-LaGrange).  One such bakery is Country Lane Bakery.  Look at these delicious goodies that a friend of mine scored from this delicious destination.  Country Lane is located at 59162 CR 43 outside of Middlebury, Indiana.  Looks like some homemade bread, whoopie pies, and chocolate crinkle cookies are among the goodies in the picture.  The chocolate crinkle cookies are popular in Amish homes.  Here is a recipe from the Amish Cook archives for those cookies so you can make them yourself at home

    CHOCOLATE CRINKLE COOKIES

    2 cups sugar

    ¾ cup vegetable oil

    ¾ cup cocoa

    4 eggs

    2 tsp. vanilla

    2-⅓ cups flour

    2 tsp. baking powder

    ½ tsp. salt
    powdered sugar

Mix well. Cover and chill. Roll into 1-inch across balls and roll in powdered sugar. Place onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.
