    Coffee Smoothies Revisited

    Published: Aug 4, 2014 · Updated: Aug 4, 2014 by Kevin Williams | 3 Comments

smoothieRecently Amish Cook columnist Gloria Yoder shared a recipe for homemade chocolate coffee smoothies.   The recipe was a hit with readers and now it is a hit with me.  Gloria served one of these delectable drinks when I visited her and her husband last week.  These coffee smoothies, topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream, crush chain-store coffee versions.  The milk used in the smoothie was fresh from their cow and you could taste the creamy goodness of it, flavored with a perfect blend of coffee and chocolate to make a refreshing drink. And I think the coffee (there's not much in it, but I don't drink much) gave me a little jolt of energy to continue the day. If you regularly drink coffee you probably wouldn't notice that part.

Thanks for taste-testing this one for us. I started to make one yesterday, but I had already had two sources of caffeine and decided I'd better not. I'm planning to make one tomorrow for my husband and I. Tomorrow is his birthday, and I'm planning to spoil him. 🙂

I love these! I use decaf and all sugar free ingredients. I'm diabetic and have tremors so I don't need the caffein but I do use Splenda to sweeten it. With all the adjustments it's still wonderful and low cal.

I wonder if this would taste as good or even look as good made with soy milk....probably not and there would be no way for me to taste both versions....oh the joys of being allergic to dairy.....NOT.
