Delicious Amish Muffin Tin Burgers is a quirky recipe. I mean, I've written before about burgers and how there are so many variations. But a baked burger made in a muffin tin? These are deliciously flavorful burgers that make a wonderful "party food."

This Delicious Amish Muffin Tin Burger recipe comes from an old Amish cookbook and is really a great gathering recipe. You can make a bunch of these, pop them in the oven and serve. They taste great dipped in barbecue sauce or whatever dip you like.

The applesauce really makes this recipe moist and is a unique flavor twist.

By the way, most Amish homes have access to very fresh beef. Many raise their own steer so that they can butcher beef and have a ready-supply year-round. This meat is usually fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Amish who don't raise their own steer typically know someone who does and can buy beef from a neighbor, friend, or relative that is locally sourced and raised. That doesn't mean you'll never see an Amish person buy beef in a grocery store, but it isn't common. More common would be to buy beef from a local Amish-owned bulk food store.

You do want, as the recipe states, to use a lean ground beef in this. The leaner it is, the less fatty grease you'll have to worry about pooling in the muffin tins.

This is the hamburger after the applesauce, bread crumbs, and dry mustard have been thoroughly mixed into the beef. You want to let it stand for a good 30 minutes to an hour, if you possible. That'll really allow the applesauce to work its magic.

Bake in muffin tins in the oven.

They pop right out when they are done baking and that is when you can get creative how to serve them: on small buns, as a finger food you dip into your favorite sauce, or you can eat them just like this.

We spooned some homemade gravy onto each one and they were very good like that. Very flavorful!
