Campfire Cake

Ingredients
  • Alright, here's what I did for the campfire cake...Again, the design was not my idea. I saw it on pinterest and made it myself using the pic only. There may have been a recipe included, but I'm not sure. I hope I'm not forgetting anything. :)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (plus eggs, oil, and water depending on box instructions)
  • 4 sticks butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1.5 lb powdered sugar (1½ boxes)
  • ⅔ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 mini Twix bars
  • Candy corn
  • Small pretzel sticks
  • Mini marshmallows
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Mix cake mix with eggs, oil, and water according to box instructions.
  3. Pour batter into two 8 inch round cake pans and bake for recommended time on box (approx. 35-40 min) or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. Meanwhile, beat softened butter with a mixer in a large bowl.
  5. Add vanilla and peanut butter and mix until well combined.
  6. Add powdered sugar about a half cup at a time and beat until well combined. Remove cakes from pans and transfer onto wax paper.
  7. Shave off top of one cake to make it flat and place on serving tray.
  8. Spread about 1 cup frosting on top and place second cake directly on top.
  9. Frost top and edges of double layer cake with all but 1 cup of remaining frosting. Place about 15-20 candy corn in center of cake, turned different directions to look like flames.
  10. Unwrap Twix bars and place over candy corn like logs in a fire.
  11. Pipe or spoon a little more frosting over the middle to add a
  12. second layer of candy corn flames (maybe 8-12 more).
  13. Place 1 mini marshmallow on the end of a pretzel stick and place around fire for "roasting marshmallows".
  14. Repeat with about 5 marshmallows and pretzel sticks. Pipe remaining frosting around bottom edge of cake.
