German Baptist Homemade Chicken Rice Soup

Serves: 6 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 chicken (3 pounds) boned, skinned, diced,
  • ¼ pound uncooked, long grain white rice
  • ½ cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons celery seed
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
Instructions
  1. Cook the chicken according to your preference.
  2. Add to a large pot and then stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Simmer on low until rice is cooked and carrots are tender, about 1 hour.
