Shoofly Cake
- 4 cups White flour
- 2⅔ cups Brown sugar
- 1 cup Butter
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups Boiling water
- 1 cup Molasses
- 2 teaspoons Baking soda
- Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13 baking pan.
- Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, and salt together and work into crumbs.
- Save 1 and ½ cups of crumbs for the top of the cake.
- Combine hot water, molasses, and baking soda, mixing well. Add ½ of liquid to crumbs. Mix until moist and smooth. Add remaining liquid and mix.
- Will be runny!
- Pour into prepared baking pan and top with reserved crumbs.
- Press crumbs lightly into top. Bake for 45 minutes.
