Homemade "Heinz" Catsup
- 2 gallons of tomatoes
- 2 1 /2 cup sugar
- 1 1 /2 teaspoon mustard
- 1 /4 cup salt
- 2 cups vinegar
- pinch of cloves
- 1 /2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 /4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 /2 teaspoon onion salt
- 1 quart tomato paste
- Wash and cut into pieces the tomatoes.
- Boil for a few minutes.
- Put into a cheesecloth and drain for four hours or overnight.
- Throw away the juice.
- Put pulp through strainer and add all ingredients to pulp and put in jars.
- Process for 10 minutes.
- Yields approximately 5 pints.
