Mrs. Levi Raber's Nutty Baked French Toast

Serves: 10-12 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 loaf of bread, sliced
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 /2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Nut topping:
  • 3 /4 cup butter
  • 1 1 /3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 1 1 /3 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
  1. Generously grease 9 X 13 pan.
  2. FIll pan with bread slices to within 1 /2 " of top.
  3. Blend together eggs,mi;k, half and half, vanilla and spices.
  4. Pour over bread, cover and refrigerate over night.
  5. Combine topping ingredients and set aside until time to bake toast.
  6. Heat topping till butter is melted, spread over bread.
  7. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes till puffed and golden.
